What was the highlight of Château La Comtesse de Loire & Spa

It was the relaxing break we needed in a beautiful setting with perfect attention to detail.

The chateau is beautiful, photos do not do it justice. It is more impressive in real life. The building, the staircase, the grounds, all are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. An atmosphere of calm prevails throughout. Old beautiful with modern amenities such as a reliable lift and efficient air conditioning and we were there on some very hot days. The parking is secure behind a security gate right next to the chateau. You can have breakfast outside in the beautiful grounds which is a lovely start to the day. It is a 12 minute walk at a slow pace as it was so hot into the old town of Samaur which was also perfect. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Lovely place to stay; one night not enough.

Beautiful place in the middle of town but private and quiet. The chateau is lovely, set in extensive grounds with an inviting outdoor pool. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Room comfortable and attractively furnished. Everything to like, nothing to dislike.

Charming family hotel with great owners

Its been wonderful stay! Hotel itself has a great “vibe” of a very authentic Château yet it is comfortable, well maintained and clean. Owners family members are amazing and I would like to thank them for a great service. I felt very welcome, even though my time schedule was very complicated.

An absolute gem of a hotel that we cannot recommend highly enough.

Wonderful building (the photos don’t really do it justice) - we were blown away by the decor and the gardens. The staff are a credit to the owner, Flore. Everyone went out of her way to make our stay very special - to the extent that Flore even managed to secure a local restaurant reservation on what was a very busy weekend for Saumur. The breakfast was a particular highlight. We wish we could have stayed much longer and shall return for next year’s Anjou Vintage Velo weekend.

A perfect stay for a romantic getaway

The actual building is beautiful. It is ornate with attention to detail on every wall ceiling and floor. The stained glass windows are breath taking. The gardens are well maintained and offered respite from the heat and were the perfect spot to share a bottle of bubbles. Highly recommend booking the spa for a couple of hours for a romantic night.

There was honestly nothing to dislike.

A luxurious, relaxed and highly enjoyable stay.

The history, the luxurious decor and the highly professional and cheerful staff. An exceptional setting with magnificent trees and a heated swimming pool to enjoy.

A very minor point. The stainless steel look pedal bins seemed out of place. Perhaps cream coloured matt look pedal bins would look less out of place ?

Best stay of the entire Loire Valley

Beautifully maintained chateau rich with history and thoughtful details for a luxurious stay. We were welcomed by the owner who shared the history of the property and made us feel warmly welcomed and generously helped us with all of our questions. This was our favorite stay throughout the Loire Valley, and we ended on the best note possible.

Superb chareaux experience - outstanding all round

What a fantastic place this chateaux is to stay in. Everything about it showed attention to detail and it was fabulous to stay in a little piece of history with all areas having been restored to their former glory but with modern amenities. They even have health & spa facilities in the basement which were tastefully done to compliment the ancient surroundings. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and the breakfast was superb. Already planning the next trip when they re-open next April.

The hosts were extremely welcoming, helpful and accommodating. They clearly have worked very hard to make this a wonderful place to stay. We were staying for the first night of our honeymoon and the experience was perfect.

My husband and I have stayed in many hotels of various standards. None bad. This hotel Chateau La Marquise is the best. The belle époque decor is breathtaking, the furnishings perfect, a beautiful garden, service and cleanliness exceptional. Generous breakfast and high quality toiletries. A perfect hôtel .

Excellent stay during our Loire River journey by bike.

My wife and I arrived by bicycle and the location was convenient to the EuroVelo route. The swimming pool was fantastic after a full day on the bike. Safe storage space was provided for the bikes. Our room was fantastic! The receptionist that checked us in was very informative and helpful as was the owner of the establishment. The breakfast in the morning was great and we left more than adequately fueled up for the journey ahead. I feel very fortunate to have stayed the night and only wished we had stayed longer.

We liked it all.

Stunning chateau with fantastic staff

Fantastic chateau with beautiful rooms and grounds. Staff exceptional and helped with our various requests. Massages fantastic as was pool facilities and spa.

The friendly and extremely helpful hosts set the tone for a few days of relaxation in this beautiful elegant hotel. Spotlessly clean. The gardens were peaceful and the pool a lovely spot. Off street parking and a short walk to the town centre. Would thoroughly recommend it and one of the best places weve stayed in France.
